Research on Internet
Information technology provides scientists with unique opportunities to disseminate their research ideas and results to the world-wide scientific community.  New collaborations can be facilitated among scientists who are geographically separated.  Real-time active interaction on research are possible through electronic mail and digital video.  The type of scientific information that can be conveyed via Internet, e.g., in the form of colored photographs and graphs, interactive multimedia, and hypertext documents, is a quantum leap beyond what can be presented via the traditional printed journal. Electronic research posters on Internet can provide a comprehensive and detailed multimedia presentation of the scientist's research.  A significant issue is that the scientist is in complete editorial control over the scientific content and presentation of his ideas and research findings.  Thus, free exchange of ideas and research data are possible among scientists world-wide without the intervening filters of traditional publication venues.
