2012 Wilderness Service-Learning Internship

July 9 through August 1, 2012

Intern Backpacking

21 days in Idaho's Selway-Bitterroot or Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness

CSS 498 (Section 01) Internship: Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Service-Learning Internship

"I never knew a man who took a bedroll into an Idaho mountainside and slept there under a star-studded summer sky
who felt self-important that next morning. Unless we preserve some opportunity for future generations to have the same
experience, we shall have dishonored our trust." -- Senator Frank Church

We are looking for students to learn and serve in the heart of the rugged, wild northern Rockies. This is Wilderness education; earn internship credit, learn from field lectures and campfire discussions, work alongside the USFS in the Wilderness, and gain on-the-ground experience in protected-area management. Brought to you by the University of Idaho Conservation Social Sciences Department, College of Natural Resources, and the Service-Learning Center.

A group of service-learning students will help meet restoration needs within a designated wilderness area. Through field lessons and hands-on service-learning with leaders in the field, students will learn the multifaceted nature of environmental preservation and wilderness management.

Might one of these students be you?

Inquire today; applications due soon!
