Journaling Assignment -- Fall 2009

Over the semester, each student will hand in two (2) journal assignments, each reflecting on the course content up to this point in time. A journal assignment is simply a personal essay (not to exceed two-pages) in which you tell me about how the course is going and what you are getting out of it. You do this by identifying any difficulties, puzzles, struggles, and dilemmas experienced with course concepts. You should also attempt to relate how this course relates to your courses or other academic areas of study you are pursuing, (such as other courses or assignments). Finally, please let me know if you have any suggestions of ways I could improve the course.

I will carefully read each entry. Journals are just one avenue for an iterative dialogue between us --  I am always open for comments and discussion during class or after class.  Individual journal entries of 2 word-processed pages will be evaluated for their comprehensiveness and thoughtfulness in reflecting on course content. You may choose to illustrate your understanding by relating materials to your personal experience or to other materials and courses.
