Current openings on the UI Experimental Forest--

        Forest Tech                       Student Logging Crew            Timber Cruising

The University of Idaho Experimental Forest (UIEF) hires and trains student crews for various types of work on the forest.  These student crews learn valuable skills that they can later use in their careers as natural resource professionals.

All of the students hired by the (UIEF) must be students in the College of Natural Resources or recent graduates.  The student crews are trained in safety and equipment maintenance.  They must be physically capable of strenuous physical labor and be qualified to drive University of Idaho vehicles. 

 

There are four types of crews hired to work on the UIEF:

Student Logging Crew--The extensive student logging crew program gives employees an appreciation and understanding of the complexity of each logging task and its relationship to the multiple tasks necessary for logging project completion under natural forest conditions.

Forest Tech--Employees gain an appreciation and understanding in pre-commercial thinning, pruning, and herbicide application.

bullet

Timber Cruising--Crew members are involved with inventory sampling of over and understory vegetation

bullet

Work Study--Student employees are assigned a variety of jobs on the UIEF
