Biographical Sketch: Ron Mahoney is a Professor and Extension Forester for the University of Idaho. Receiving most of his undergraduate training at Auburn University and early professional forestry experience in Alabama and around the southeast, he holds B.S. (1975), M.S.(1977), and Ph.D.(1981) degrees from the UI College of Forestry, Wildlife and Range Sciences (recently re-named College of Natural Resources). He has held various positions at the UI for 23 years, spent a year teaching at Humboldt State U. in Arcata, CA, and about 8 additional years as a private forest consultant in several regions of the U.S. His primary emphasis in all positions has been the sustainable use and management of private timberland, and reforestation of marginal farmland.  He has specialized in silvicultural prescriptions and forest evaluation. During the last 15 years, Ron has focused on native and exotic hardwood species in the Pacific Northwest, experimenting with small-scale tree crops in Idaho, and working closely with landowners and other regional universities and private organizations on growing, processing, and marketing many tree crop species. Ron is also the Director of the Idaho Big Tree Program.

Biographical Sketch: Yvonne is the Associate Extension Forester at the University of Idaho and has been in her current position since 1990. She earned a B.S degree in Environmental Studies from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL and a M.S. in Forest Resources from the University of Idaho, Moscow, ID. Over the years, Yvonne has worked as an arborist and tree care specialist, a grower/supervisor in several commercial nursery operations, and as a research associate. She also served two years in the U.S. Peace Corps as an Extension Agricultural and Forestry Agent for the Ministry of Natural Resources in Honduras. Yvonne's areas of expertise are forest and nursery management, forest insect and disease diagnostics, wildland/urban interface fire, and hardwood plantations. She is also the unit's desk-top publishing specialist and developed and maintains the UI Extension Forestry web site.

Biographical Sketch: Randy is an Extension Educator and Associate Professor at the University of Idaho. He is based in Orofino, Idaho and provides extension programming in forestry, agriculture, and 4-H/youth/volunteer development. Randy has a Ph.D. in Forest Science and a M.S. in Soil Science from Michigan Technological University, a B.S. in Forest Management from Oklahoma State University, and an A.S. degree in Agriculture from Connors State College. His primary areas of interest include extension programming in water quality, forest ecology, silviculture, agricultural and natural resources education, and youth/adult volunteer development.

Biographical Sketch: Chris is an Extension Forester and Professor at the University of Idaho. He is based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and provides extension forestry programming for forest owners, loggers, and professional foresters in the Idaho panhandle. He holds a B.S. in Forestry and Environmental Studies from Iowa State University, a M.S. in Forestry and Range Management and an M.A. in Adult and Continuing Education from Washington State University. His primary areas of interest include forest ecology, silviculture, and extension methods to stimulate improved management of private forests.
