Biography
Andrew
Robinson joined the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University
of Melbourne in 2005, following seven years as an assistant and associate
professor respectively in the Department of Forest Resources at the University
of Idaho. Prior to his arrival at the University of Idaho, Andrew was a
Research Assistant, Casual Tutor and Casual
Lecturer, while conducting his PhD, in the Department of Forest
Resources at the University of Minnesota. Andrew Robinson attained his doctorate
in 1998 from the University of Minnesota, USA, with a Thesis entitled:
"Forest ecosystem dynamics: a systematic approach to modelling in a model-rich
environment". He in 1997, was awarded two MSc degrees from the University of
Minnesota, these being from Statistics and from Forest Resources; which followed
on from his BSc (1st class Hons) in Statistics, which he obtained from the
University of Melbourne. In addition to his academic pursuits, Andrew Robinson
has had a wide and varied career in statistics, including a year as a Senior
Research Officer in the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Andrew
Robison is also an avid user of the statistical software package 'R' and used to
run the UI Forest Biometrics Lab.
