Video conference - Live
Contact the professor for information about the course via a video conference
As an alternative to email or telephone, you can correspond live with the professor via Internet with a video conferencing system. With a web camera, microphone (if not built-in to the camera), duplex-capable sound card, and software such as MS NetMeeting or Polycom PVX, you can communicate live with the professor.

 

Instructions and specifications for making a video call over Internet
Required computer system components: video camera connected to your computer, microphone (preferred: video camera with built-in microphone), a duplex-capable sound card and speakers, microphone (if not built-in to the camera), and video conferencing software (e.g., NetMeeting, Polycom PVX, or similar software).

To contact the professor: Load NetMeeting (or similar video conferencing software), "dial" the professor's video conferencing system "IP" address (available on request).

  NetMeeting is included in Windows operating system. Once activated and set up, the software is compatible with most low-cost consumer grade web cameras, including Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro and QuickCam Pro 4000. Polycom PVX software is supplied with the Polycom ViaVideo II camera, which provides video calls of excellent quality. This software program can also be purchased separately for use with several low-cost consumer-grade web cameras, including Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro and QuickCam Pro 4000.
