FERL and NOAA’s Coastal Services Center (CSC) have partnered with the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe in Port Angeles, WA to create a multi-dimensional characterization of the Elwha River watershed, its natural resources, and its original native people.  The products of this collaboration will include a GIS data clearinghouse for natural resource information related to the proposed removal of two dams in the river, estuary and nearshore.  Socio-economic and cultural information will be coupled with native fisheries restoration initiatives including estuary and nearshore mapping in the Elwha River and Straits of Juan de Fuca.
