The 401 series is a distance education program which provides accredited
University Courses for fire professionals to help meet the Interagency Fire
Program Management (IFPM) Qualifications Standards. Under these standards 14
key fire management positions were placed into, the GS-0401 professional
series. As a result of these new standards professionals in these positions
or those who are seeking to gain these positions, are now required to meet
educational requirements.
In response to these new requirements the College of Natural Resources
begin developing and teaching online and hybrid style classes targeted at
fire professionals. At this time we offer 18 online or hybrid style classes
as well as an undergraduate certificate program in fire ecology and
management, a graduate level certificate in restoration ecology and a
masters of natural resources all which can be completed online.
To date the 401 series program has taught classes to over 300 fire
professionals and has helped many of these students reach their educational
needs and desires.
